This Easter was a fun one. Obviously our first with Lucas, and a little glimpse into how much fun future holidays will be with a baby. He turned four months old on Easter, and with each passing month we are seeing his little personality develop more and more. He is an absolute joy. Sometimes Ben and I look at each other in complete awe of our little boy and talk about how we can’t believe he is ours.

Having a baby and loving your baby is such a picture of the way that God loves us. Ben and I are crazy in love with our little boy. I would do anything for him. The minute he was born I felt this incomparable joy that I have never felt before. Almost like butterflies in your tummy. It was instant. And I know that the love I have for my son is just a minute picture of how much God loves us.

God delights in us. He loves (and likes!) every little thing about us. The silly, the mundane, the embarrassing, the crazy, the beautiful, the ugly…he loves it all. I pray we can know that kind of love.

This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. (1 John 4.9-10)
